Kosaka Railroad Railpark is a railway theme park developed using a disused railway station. The station originally formed part of a mine railway built to serve the Kosaka Mine, which at one point had a higher annual output than any other mine in Japan. The station buildings appear exactly the same as they did when the railway was still in the use, and carefully-restored locomotives and rolling stock are on display. There are rail-bikes and tourist railcars, enabling visitors to enjoy a unique railway experience. Accommodation is available in the “Blue Train Akebono” sleeper cars parked in the station area.

本物のディーゼル機関車の運転体験ができます。機関士さんのからマスコンやブレーキの操作法について簡単な実地での説明を受けたら、エンジンを始動。レールパーク行内の線路約１００メートルを往復します。なにせ約５０トンの従量がある本物のディーゼル機関車だけにマスコンを操作しエンジンが吹き上がるとものすごい迫力を感じます。減速・停止の操作はブレーキをかけてから実際に制動がかかるまでのタイムラグが大きくなかなか...

小坂鉱山事務所などとの共通券で見学。駅舎や機関車庫は国の登録有形文化財に指定されています。旧小坂鉄道の蒸気機関車や客車、ディーゼル機関車やラッセル車なども展示されています。

外から眺めることもできますが、入場は有料で500円掛かります。DD13の動態保存写真は機関庫の中で保存されていますので外から観ることはできません。施設外からの写真だけを掲載致します。
