Kumano Taisha Shrine

Shrine
This is approximately a 13 minute walk from Miyauchi Station and is one of three Kumano Shrines in Japan. Boasting more than 1,200 years of reconstruction, also called the Ise Shrine of the Tohoku region, the worship hall is the oldest thatched roof building in the prefecture. Kumano Ogami (Great Diety) is the god of “unification” and is a diety that brings the benefits of “marriage,” and many worshippers visit the shrine as a marriage power spot. Also, it is believed that if you find three hidden rabbits carved on the back of the main hall without assistance, your “prayers will come true” and you will “be happy.” Amulets of cute rabbits etc are available at the reception.
