Fukuura Island

Island
Fukuura Island, floating to the east of the Matsushima Coast, is a central point for Matsushima sightseeing. It’s connected to the mainland by a 252 meter red-painted bridge (toll charged) so you can walk across to it. The whole island is designated a Prefectural Natural Botanical Park, so it remains an untouched nature preserve filled with pine forest dotted with camellia, maple, and about 250 other types of plant.
