The Hideyo Noguchi Memorial Hall野口英世青春館
This museum-and-café is a memorial for doctor Hideyo Noguchi, located in Nakamachi, Aizuwakamatsu City, Fukushima Prefecture. This black-walled, western-style warehouse was first built in 1884 and later renovated. The first floor is a café, and the second floor is a historical resources museum. Originally, it was the “Kyu-Kaiyo-in Hospital” where Hideyo underwent an operation for the hand he burned in childhood, and where he spent his adolescence later as a scholar. The museum displays a variety of documents relevant to Hideyo Noguchi.
