A visitor’s center for the nuclear fuel cycling center located in almost the exact venter of Rokkasho Village on the Shimokita Peninsula in Aomori Prefecture. The building is modeled after a nuclear fuel cycle ring. The third floor offers a sweeping 360 degree panorama of the Mt. Hakkoda, the Pacific Ocean, and the nuclear fuel cycling facility. Through large models, videos, information panels, and games, visitors can have fun learning about the Rokkasho Reprocessing Plant. The visitor’s center also offers guided tours with easy to understand explanations provided by a center staff member with an advance reservation.

原子力発電に反対か賛成かはさておき、この施設では大人も子供も原子燃料のサイクルについて、ゲームやクイズを交えながら学ぶ事ができます。上の階には展望スペースもあり、連なる風力発電施設や石油備蓄基地も見えます。
全体を通して感じたのは、原発のクリーンなイメージ作りをするべく頑張っているのね....という事です。リーフレットによると、スタッフによる案内も行なっているようですが、自分で気ままに見たいところ...

資源のない日本、原子力エネルギーの必要性について、フラットな気持ちで学んでみることも大切と感じました。3階からは、周囲のおびただしい風力発電の景色も見ることができます。
