Kureha (久連波)

3.5

Other Coffee Shop

Kureha is a teahouse where customers can relax and enjoy matcha from long-standing tea shops and the confections known as Jonamagashi, which are usually available only at fine traditional restaurants or at tea ceremonies. In the same building is a gallery with a collection of original accessories made from Kaga Yuzen dyed fabrics. Customers can try on Kaga Yuzen garments, because the venerable traditional clothing shop Eritora manages Kureha. Putting on a beautifully dyed garment, wandering around to admire the quaint streetscapes, and returning to the shop to enjoy the finest sweets is a fantastic experience. Kureha is located 16 minutes by car from the Kanazawa Higashi Interchange on the Hokuriku Expressway.

Long, thin Ishikawa prefecture runs along the Sea of Japan up into Noto Peninsula. Highlights of the seaside towns lining the west coast include Kanazawa, often described as a "Little Kyoto" thanks to its old wooden tea houses and geisha culture as well as its picturesque Japanese garden, Kenroku-en.
