Experience Hall / Accommodation Experience (Training) Facility

This is a sightseeing cultural exchange facility located in Ishikawa Prefecture where visitors can learn about the traditional craftwork of graceful “Wajima” lacquer ware. It opened in 2003 and is located in Kawai Town, Wajima City, in Ishikawa Prefecture. Inside the premises, there are five buildings replicating the old Wajima “Nagaya” terrace style workshops. Inside is divided into Wajima lacquer workshops, specialized Wajima lacquer shops and an experience workshop. The experience of gold inlaid lacquer ware and making your own chopsticks is popular with tourists. In the “Nagaya” workshops, visitors can observe the work of the craftsmen and at the restaurant managed directly by fisherman enjoy meals served in Wajima lacquer ware.

Long, thin Ishikawa prefecture runs along the Sea of Japan up into Noto Peninsula. Highlights of the seaside towns lining the west coast include Kanazawa, often described as a "Little Kyoto" thanks to its old wooden tea houses and geisha culture as well as its picturesque Japanese garden, Kenroku-en.
