This specialty Japanese tea store and café was established in 1859, in Tatemachi, Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture. The store is inside a renovated townhouse, and the soothing color scheme of its tables and red nodate-gasa (umbrellas for open-air tea ceremony) make it a very peaceful space. Customers can enjoy their tea and sweets while looking out at the garden through the latticed windows. The most popular sweet is the Maverick Parfait, created from a staff meal. The store’s soft cream is an excellent product, found only in this long-established store, and made with home-roasted Kaga-bocha tea leaf powder. With its stone ground matcha powder, the matcha soft cream is also very popular.

Ishikawa Main Areas
Long, thin Ishikawa prefecture runs along the Sea of Japan up into Noto Peninsula. Highlights of the seaside towns lining the west coast include Kanazawa, often described as a "Little Kyoto" thanks to its old wooden tea houses and geisha culture as well as its picturesque Japanese garden, Kenroku-en.
