Jurin-in Temple
A sub-temple of Gango-ji Temple, this temple is said to have been built under orders from Emperor Gensho. A Nara period official, Asano no Sukune no Nakai, is said to have opened it after receiving Emperor Gensho’s old residence as a gift, but the details are unknown. The stone Buddhist altar inside the main building was built based on Nanto Buddhism and influenced by folk beliefs at the time. The alcove interior was fashioned from hewn granite, with reliefs of Jizo Bosatsu, Gautama Buddha, Maitreya, and others carved into it.
