Hibara Shrine
When the divine spirit of the sun goddess Amaterasu who had been enshrined in the imperial palace was entrusted by the Emperor Sujin to Toyosukiirihime-no-Mikoto it was enshrined here, the former location of Ise shrine. The shintai, or object of worship, is on Mt. Miwa and while there is no main shrine hall or hall of worship there are three torii gates. To the west is a beautiful site of the Hibara plateau and the entirety of Nara. Around the spring and fall equinox the setting sun sinks between the peaks of Mt Nijouzan making a spectacular site that draws numerous visitors.
