Former Residence of Sasuke Toyoda

Historical Monument
The Former Residence of Sasuke Toyoda is located 15 minutes’ walk from Takaoka Station on the Sakuradori Subway Line, and was built in 1923. Sasuke, a younger brother of Sakichi Toyoda, a master inventor, was a businessman who supported his brother. It consists of a white tiled wooden European style building and a two-story wooden Japanese style building, and it communicates the Taisho period (1912-1926) architectural style to the present. On the first floor of the European style building, you can see ornaments including lights shaped like lotus buds and hanging decorations as well as ventilation ducts with the Toyoda characters designed on a crane. A building guided tour is carried out by volunteers every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
