Kano-jinja Shrine

This shrine is located in Higashiuraga, Yokosuka City. This is the western shrine of the pair of twin Kano-jinja shrines that sandwich the Uraga harbor. Thought to be sites with spiritual energy, based on the name Kano, meaning 'possible'. Fortune in finding a partner is found by placing a bead from the west Kano shrine in an amulet case from the east Kano shrine. The two shrines are easily accessible using the Uraga no Watashi passenger ferry, which traverses the harbor.

境内裏の山頂には奥の院

浦賀駅から徒歩20分ほど。1181年に石清水八幡宮を勧請して創建。祭神は応神天皇。現社殿は1929年再建の木造銅板葺でその脇にある神輿蔵には立派な神輿が納められている。また拝殿左側の石段を220-230段ほど上ったところ(明神山山頂)には奥の院が鎮座している。

鳥居の脇と海側に数台駐められるスペースが用意されています。海の香が漂う鳥居前から進むと、少し階段を昇ります。御朱印帳と御朱印を求めたのですが、次に行く（西）叶神社と見開きにしたいというわがままを聞き入れてくださり、２ページめに御朱印を頂けました。表紙は咸臨丸の雄々しい姿です。
西から渡し船で東へ

西で勾玉をいただいたら、渡し船へ。かわいいポンポン船にのって東叶神社へ向かいます。ここでは勾玉の袋をゲットしたい。必ず西から東のようです。勾玉と袋の組み合わせは自由です。私は水晶と緑袋を選びました。
