Zushi Beach (逗子海岸)

Coast / Beach

The coastline facing Sagami Bay is called Zushi Beach. It's known for its shallow water and calm waves and it gets packed with sea bathers when the hot season arrives. They hold the Zushi Beach Fireworks in summer and a horseback archery event in November. Its monument commemorating the Shintaro Ishihara novel The Season of the Sun is famous. The nearest stations are Zushi Station on the JR Line and Shinzushi Station on the Keikyu Zushi Line.

Kanagawa prefecture acts as an extension of the Tokyo metropolis that spills over into coastal towns, most notably Yokohama city, heavily populated and known for its Chinatown and seaside attractions. Just the right distance for a day trip out of Tokyo, Kanagawa is home to some of Tokyo's most accessible beaches, including around Kamakura, best known for its Big Buddha. Visitors can also travel a little farther afield for a weekend at Hakone onsen town.
