Manju Sohonzan Genraku (饅頭総本山 源楽)
3.5
This is a manju specialty shop near the famous “Shuzenji Temple” in Izu City, Shizuoka Prefecture. It is a well-known shop that is often featured on TV shows and in magazines. “Genraku Sesame Manju” which is known as the representative souvenir of Shuzenji is a black manju that has bamboo charcoal mixed in the dough. It is a masterpiece with the moist texture of the skin matching perfectly with the bean paste full of the aroma and deep taste of sesame. All sorts of Japanese sweets such as Yomogimanju and Joyomanju are sold in the store.
Review of Genraku Shuzenji Honten

Shizuoka Areas

With the giant Pacific Ocean to the south and the great Mount Fuji to the north, Shizuoka prefecture is blessed with some of the best views the country has to offer. The white sand beaches of the Izu Peninsula are a rare find on mainland Japan, neighbored by beautiful cliffs, tumbling hills, and natural hot springs. As Japan’s largest producer of green tea, the age-old tradition of tea drinking is ubiquitous in Shizuoka, from the miles of tea fields to the old tea houses hosting traditional tea ceremonies.
