Hamamatsuya Main Restaurant

Souvenirs
Jinbe Ishikawa invented “yosegi zaiku” (wooden mosaic work), a traditional craft of Hakone and Odawara, and this shop is run by one of his descendants. The artisans combine Edo period technique with modern sensibilities to create original goods. The items in this shop include beautiful and vibrant wooden mosaic art featuring geometric patterns, paintings made with machine saws, and inlaid woodwork with designs etched into the material. In the workshop on the second floor, you can hear the techniques explained and watch demonstrations. Take the bus from Hakone-Yumoto Station and get off at “Honjin-Ato.”
