One of the sources of the so called Seven Hot Springs of Atami in Atami City, Shizuoka Prefecture, the steam which escapes through the rocks at this hot spring is so hot you can boil an egg. Just place an egg into a basket and position it over one of the steam vents, put on the wooden lid and wait for the egg to be boiled. Cooking times vary depending on the weather but soft boiled eggs take about six to eight minutes to cook and hard boiled eggs take about 10 minutes. You can bring in your own eggs or buy them from the store opposite. The steam is extremely hot so be careful when boiling your eggs!
