Photo Studio Shima
This well-established photo shop was founded in 1878 and is counted among the top 10 of such stores in all of Japan. The first-generation owner opened the shop after learning the techniques of photography in Yokohama, and it has continued to do business over four generations as the photography department for Hakone’s famous Fujiya Hotel. It has taken photographs on countless occasions for the Imperial family, state guests, and famous people both Japanese and foreign, and the front of the shop is decorated with photos of John Lennon, Charlie Chaplin, and Hellen Keller, etc. It is popular as a photo shop to take sepia-toned retro commemorative photos. The closest station is Miyanoshita Station.
