Located in Shiojiri City, Nagano Prefecture, this café is inside Naraijuku, which formerly prospered as a post town of Nakasendo Highway. The building is a renovated 200-year old civilian home, but despite the aged exterior, the interior has a charming, comfortable feel that merges East and West. The cakes and sweets are all handmade, all carefully baked up using local ingredients. One popular item is the Shinshu favorite “Gohei mochi set.” Coffee made from freshly brewed beans is good too. The location also used to be a lacquerware factory, so lacquerware and other miscellany are sold inside.

奈良井の宿を訪問して、歩き疲れたぐらいの場所にあるのが嬉しい。２階に上げていただいて、紅茶のシフォンケーキと珈琲をいただきました。しっとりふわっとしたシフォンケーキには生クリームがたっぷり添えてあり、奥さんも大喜びでした。ケーキ皿は、朱の平皿でとってもお洒落。使用している漆器は、一階で買い求めることが出来ます。窓からは、道行く観光客の姿が見られ飽きないですね。お店には関係ありませんが、奈良井宿は...
