Ryogin-an Temple

Temple
Ryogin-an Temple is located in Kyoto's Higashiyama Ward. It was built in 1291 as a repository for the ashes of deceased priests of Tofukuji, a temple of the Rinzai sect. Originally, it was the site of the residence of the third chief priest of Tofukuji Temple, Mukan Fumon (Daimyo Kokushi). This temple has been designated a National Treasure, and it is home to a number of Important Cultural Properties. On the east, west, and south sides of the grounds is a dry garden designed by garden designer Mirei Shigemori in 1964. This garden is open to the public only on special occasions during the year.

    ここの寺院は本物、極めて素晴らしい。特別拝観時期しか拝観出来ないのが残念。東福寺の塔頭寺院。ここの方丈は国宝、表門は重要文化財。ここは東福寺の塔頭中、第一位とされている格式を有する。方丈は室町時代初期に創建されており、日本最古の方丈建築。境内には3つの枯山水庭園を有する寺院で、個人的には有名な竜安寺石庭よりもこちらの方が嗜好に合う。公開時期を確認の上、参拝されたい。創建は1291年で京都の寺社の中...

    東福寺の奥の方にある塔頭が、こちらの龍吟庵です。「八相の庭」とも呼ばれる、素晴らしい庭園、方丈庭園を後にして、さらに奥の方に進むと、渓谷に橋が架かっていました。それがえん月橋で、手前側に架かっている臥雲橋、通天橋とともに、東福寺の3名橋と呼ばれている橋です。 この橋を渡ったところに、龍吟庵が建っていました。通常は公開されていないようでした。
