Mt. Atago
This 924-meter high mountain is located in Ukyo Ward, Kyoto. It can be climbed year-round, and is crowded with local climbers. At the peak sits Atago Shrine, famous for being visited by Mitsuhide Akechi. On every July 31st, many pilgrims visit the shrine for the Sennichi Mairi (1,000-day pilgrimage) to seek 1,000 days-worth of protection.
