Okakuen DINING Kyo Kaiseki (Tea Ceremony Dishes)京懐石DINING 桜鶴苑

Bar / Western Bar / Dining Bar

This is a famous Kyoto course meal restaurant near Nanzenji Temple in Sakyo Ward, Kyoto City, Kyoto Prefecture. From the Taisho period-built main building, one can look out over a wide about 4,000-square-meter Japanese garden largely designed by 7th generation heir Jihei Ogawa that is nationally designated as a place of scenic beauty. Not only is the taste wonderful, the Kyoto course meals offer a feast for the eyes, adding modern sensibilities to traditional craft to create artistic cuisine. The lunch limited Boiled Tofu Meal, consisting of famous Nanzenji Temple boiled tofu with a mini course meal, is a popular set.

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
