Kouenji Temple
A Pure Land Buddhist Temple founded in 1613 and branch temple of the Chion-in temple. The temple nave houses a figure of Amitabha. The temple was closely connected to the Shinsengumi, the shogunate police, and many people connected to the force are buried here. It is also the gravesite of many warriors, such as Yamanami Keisuke and Kawai Kisaburo.

- Beautiful gardens and a great ambience. A great place to meditate or just absorb the culture and spiritual aspects of this lovely nation.

- Happened across this beautiful Temple after losing my way back to my hotel after the Nijo-jo Castle. Well worth a visit, only small compared to some but very beautiful.

- 大した目的もなく訪れましたが・・・丁度良かったとは云わないまでも・・・今日は入れなかった、コロナのせいで墓とか山内は入場拒絶になっていました。もともと閉鎖的なのが一般的な浄土宗寺院なので、別に驚くこともないが。門前にこれ見よがしに新選組云々の石柱が建っている。変な時代でこの暗殺者集団に何を感じるのかは知らないが、足跡を辿るツアーまであるとか・・・世の中、好き好きですねぇ。わたし的には、幕末維新の人...
