Torin-in Temple (Sarasoju no Tera)

Torin-in Temple is one of the sub temples of Myoshinji Temple. It was constructed by Hosokawa Ujitsuna for his father’s memorial service. In the garden is a 300-year-old sal tree, best viewed in June when there is the “Sal Appreciation Gethering.” It is not normally open to the public.

沙羅の花を愛でる会

ふだんは宿坊と精進料理のお寺ですが、６月の沙羅の花を愛でる会で特別公開されます。お抹茶付で1,600円。精進料理もいただけるようです。入口で受付して中に入ります。しばらくして名前を呼ばれ、お抹茶の用意がされた席に案内されます。お庭の沙羅の花がはらはらと青苔に落花する様がはかなく美しかったです。
京都ならではのお寺を味わう

ここは有名な花の寺。と同時に西川住職のお精進は格別のもの。ここで泊まって、京都の寺を味わうもよし、精進料理だけを頂いて、しばしの庭を眺めて、京都ならではの時間を過ごすのもよしです。
ちょっと高飛車

基本的には非公開のお寺ですが、予約すれば精進料理を楽しめます。が…、なぜか昔から（30年前から）ここの受付の人はいつも高飛車な印象です。お庭の「沙羅双樹」も有名ですが、なんかそれも「見せてやる」って感じです。宿坊および精進料理利用なら、同じ妙心寺塔頭の「大心院」の方が宿の人の感じがよいです（←これも昔から）
