Site of Miyanohara Pit of Miike Coal Mine

Historical Monument
One of the main pits of the Miike Coal Mine, which helped support Japan’s industrial revolution. When it was in operation, the mine produced 400 to 500 thousand tons of coal annually. Facilities such as the 22 meter high shaft tower and a portion of the outer wall of the Davey pump room are still intact.
