Built in 1909 when Moji Customs was inaugurated, this building with its impressive red brick exterior was used as a customs office building until the early Showa period (1912-1989). It also has an observation room with a panoramic view of the Kanmon Straits and Mojiko Retro.

Brick built Western styled building (built 1912), very reminiscent of the British Georgian period architecture. Although I would personally rank it after some of the equally impressive buildings...

1階の左側には税関の階級章等と共に密輸の手口が実物展示されていた、本をくり抜いた拳銃密輸、バスウォッシュやタバコに隠された薬物や模造品が展示されていた。今回は企画展として没収したコピー品が多数展示されていた、腕時計・靴・帽子・財布やバッグ等々。2階と3階の一部が展望室になっているが余り眺めは良くない。
館内のカフェ「Mooon de retro」もおすすめです！

門司港レトロを代表する建物の一つが、旧門司税関です。赤レンガのどっしりとした建物は、風格を感じます。この建物は、明治45年に税関庁舎として建設されました。館内にも入ることができます。１階の吹き抜けのエントランスホールや休憩室を見た後は、館内にあるカフェ「Mooon de retro」で休憩しましょう。門司港レトロを一望できるテラス席にテイクアウトするのもおすすめですよ。
