Mt. Kurodake

Mountain
One of the mountains of the Daisetsuzan Volcanic Group in Hokkaido. The mountain is known as the first location in Japan where autumn foliage starts appearing. 1,984 meters tall, it's even taller than the Japan Alps. Gentle ridges slope away from the mountain's top and the area above 1,800 meters is a vast habitat for alpine plants. A large ropeway line connects Sounkyo Onsen to the mountain's fifth station 1,300 meters above sea level. From there, there's a pair lift that will take you to the seventh station 1,520 meters up, making it easy to enjoy the alpine scenery.
