Salmon hometown Chitose Aquarium
Salmon hometown Chitose Aquarium has Japan’s largest freshwater aquarium fish tanks. Besides salmon, visitors can also observe many other freshwater fish species, many from Hokkaido but with species from all over the world. The underwater observation zone, which gives visitors a close-up view of the waters of the Chitose River, is a must-see. Besides regular events, the Aquarium also hosts special limited-period events. Chitose Aquarium is located around 10 minutes’ drive from New Chitose Airport, and around 10 minutes’ walk from JR Chitose Station.
