This museum is located approximately a two-minute walk from the Midorigaoka 6-Chome bus stop, or a ten-minute drive from Obihiro Station. Characteristic of the museum is the modern style of the building, which was opened in 1991, and its location in the center of Midorigaoka Park, which covers a vast area of ground. It mainly contains paintings by artists who are closely related to Eastern Hokkaido, and the contents of the exhibits are changed every two to three months. Also of note are the various projects and events, such as seminars and talks where visitors can appreciate the various exhibitions with tours provided by the museum's curators.

「北斎展師と弟子たち」展を見に行きました。特別展（主展示室）とコレクション・ギャラリーの共通券１，２１０円。出入口は動線案内特になし。後ろから前から手前から奥からお好きな方からドーゾ。道立美術館の常か札幌旭川とWi-Fi環境のフレッツポータルが酷過ぎて他社ユーザーには使えないのが涙目。
静かな緑ヶ丘公園の一角にあります

帯広の緑ヶ丘公園の一角にあり、あまり有名な作品は展示されていませんが、あまり混むことがなくゆっくり観賞できるのでたまに利用します。今回事前に調べずに行ったところ、北斎展準備のため9月2日から13日まで休館でした。なお、入館料は260円（企画展は別料金）、北斎展は9月14日から11月24日までやっています。
収蔵作品が充実

随時いろいろな企画展をやっているようだが、収蔵品を展示するコレクション・ギャラリーも結構見ごたえがある。訪れた時にはフランスのポスター展をやっていた。昔のポスターだが、逆に新鮮で面白かった。企画展がない時でも、訪れる価値のある美術館だと思う。
