Tagawa Family Residence

Other Historic Site/Building
Built from the end of the Meiji period to the early Taisho period, the main building of this former residence once belonged to the village headsman, its 40,000 square meter plot testifying to his power and wealth attained through farming. Remnants of renovations made to the main building in the distant Tensho period are still extant in a portion of the residence’ garden, while the dozo storehouse has been turned into a museum displaying works of art, ancient manuscripts, and folk items. The architecture of the main building is distinctive to the Kaga (now Ishikawa) area and the structure has been designated a National Tangible Cultural Property.
