Oroku no Yu
“Oroku” was the childhood nickname of military commander and samurai Naoe Kanetsugu, who was born in Minamiuonuma and recently depicted as the protagonist in the NHK historical drama “Tenchijin” This footbath stands in the vicinity of the Muikamachi Ohashi Bridge not far from the center of the town of Muika. The waters of the footbath’s sodium chloride spring are on the hot side at 52. 9° C. Built in an ellipse with a table in the center, many locals as well as climbers of Mt. Sakado and other tourists stop by here. Statues of young Naoe Kanetsugu and Katsurahime, the younger sister of the lord of Sakado Castle Uesugi Kagekatsu, stand nearby.
