3.5

Local Cuisine

A restaurant famous for serving dishes made with bear meat. Bear meat helps warm the body, and is said to be highly nourishing and rich in collagen. Popular dishes include the bear meat hot-pot, bear meat ramen, and Matagi hunter ramen. Utto Hot Spring is a hidden away part of Matagi-no-Yu Inn that can only be used with purchase of a meal. Try paring the bear meat cuisine with doburoku unrefined sake.

Review of Oshokujidokoro Shikari

TripAdvisor Traveler Rating
Reviewed:2018/12/09

Famed for its sake and samurai, Akita prefecture offers quintessential Japanese culture in a non-touristy setting. Alongside the celebrated rice paddies and historical sites of the region lies dramatic natural scenery in the form of the rugged coastline of the Oga Peninsula and the Dakigaeri Gorge, best visited in autumn, when the leaves begin to change color.
