Komachi-do

Temple
A hall located on the site of the love story between Ono no Komachi and Fukakusa no Shosho. As the original Komachi Jinja Shrine which enshrined Shakuyakuzuka was deteriorating the new hall was built to commemorate Komachi. The vibrant building is painted vermillion to resemble Byodo-in Temple's Houou hall. Every year on the second Sunday of June when the peonies are at their peak of beauty, they hold the Komachi Festival to commemorate Komachi.
