Other Japanese Food

"This Japanese restaurant is operated by Tanabeso, a venerable maker of pickles and miso founded in 1875. Guests can enjoy Kyo-ryori, the cuisine of Kyoto cuisine, which has been designated as a UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage. Naturally, their cuisine features the company's own pickles and miso. The interior of the restaurant has a ""Japanese Modern"" atmosphere created by elements such as an imposing storehouse door and a staircase featuring a wall decorated with wood from old miso barrels. They are especially proud of their famous Kyo-tsukemono sushi. These gently flavored pieces of sushi have Kyoto pickles made from carefully selected seasonal ingredients in place of the usual seafood. The restaurant also has a selection of sakes that pair well with their food .You will definitely want to enjoy one of them with your meal."

Its wooden tea houses, shuffling geisha, and spiritual sights have seen Kyoto hailed as the heart of traditional Japan, a world apart from ultramodern Tokyo. Despite being the Japanese capital for over a century, Kyoto escaped destruction during World War II, leaving behind a fascinating history which can be felt at every turn, from the fully gold-plated Kinkakuji Temple down to traditional customs such as geisha performances and tea ceremonies, which are still practiced to this day.
