Amida-ji Temple (Kochidani Amida-ji Temple)

Temple
First founded by the monk Tanzei Shonin in 1609 as a place for the study and instruction of the Buddha's teachings. Amongst all the famous locations for viewing the fall colors in the Ohara region the fall colors that can be viewed at Amida Temple are particularly lovely and the temple has been known for its autumn colors as far back as the Edo Period. On the southern side of the road approaching the temple stands an over 800 year old maple tree which has been designated a Natural Memorial and is one of the highlights of the temple.
