Grave of Hayashi Shihe

This grave is located on the grounds of Ryuunin Temple in Shihei-machi, Aoba Ward, Sendai City. It is the final resting place of military scholar Hayashi Shihei. Hayashi was imprisoned by the Tokugawa Shogunate after penning “Kaikoku Heidan,” which advocated for a stronger national defense. The grave has also been designated as a National Historical Site.
