Shingendo Tegano Store

Japanese Confectionery
A branch store, located five minutes from the Nakatsugawa Interchange, of a chestnut confectionary company which has been in business for more than 90 years. The Suisai Kinton is particularly popular and customers love the gooey texture. Consisting of famed Nakatsugawa mashed chestnuts covered with an elegantly sweet koshian (smooth azuki bean paste) and a delicate jelly coating, to Japanese people, this exquisite treat exudes a nostalgic atmosphere recalling the mountains and fields along the old Kisoji road. One of the store's staple products is the Kuri Manju, a baked bun stuffed with shiroan (white azuki bean paste) and a whole chestnut; makes a perfect souvenir for your visit to Nakatsugawa.
