Tsuchinoko Museum

Reference/Local/Exhibition/Literature Museum
This is the only museum in Japan with displays related to Tsuchinoko, a mythical snake-like creature that some claim to have encountered. Higashishirakawa Village reports the most Tsuchinoko sightings in Japan. The museum has a replica of a Tsuchinoko faithfully reproduced from information gathered from sightings as well as a variety of Tsuchinoko related merchandise. They also hold events with prize money available, as well as activities and functions like Tsuchinoko hunts, catching rainbow trout by hand, crafting workshops, raffles, and traditional mochi rice cake throwing. You can also buy village specialties such as elegantly flavored Shirakawa tea and their own tomato juice and ketchup.
