Hayachine and Kenji Gallery

Museum / Science Museum
This exhibition gallery is located approximately a 23-minute drive from JR Shin-Hanamaki Station. It opened in 2007. The building is a reconstruction of the former Hienuki District Office, and is said to have been modeled on Kenji Miyazawa's fairytale, The Cat's Office. The museum contains exhibits of works by Hayachine and Kenji Miyazawa, as well as molybdenum ore from Mount Nekoyama, which is said to have been the setting for Kaze no Matasaburo. Visitors can also see a reconstruction of the former Ishikawa Inn, which Miyazawa often stayed at.
