Uwa Sentetsu Memorial House
This memorial hall is located in Unomachi 4-Chome, Uwa-cho, Seiyo City. It introduces the lives and achievements of people who have contributed to the development of the region. The most notable of these are Ninomiya Keisaku, who studied western medicine under the German physician Philipp Franz von Siebold, as well as Kusumoto Ine, Siebold’s daughter and Japan’s first female doctor of western medicine. Its exhibits include the medical instruments used by these remarkable individuals. The hall also holds special exhibits on a variety of genres of art.
