Hoan-ji Temple

Temple
This temple is in Kitagawa, Komatsu-cho, Saijo city. The oldest temple in the prefecture, it is said to have been built in the Asuka period on the orders of Prince Shotoku, and the temple remains are a nationally designated Historic Landmark. From mid- to late-April, the blooming peonies earn it the name Senbon Botan no Tera, or temple of 1,000 peonies.
