Ehime Gokoku Jinja Shrine
This shrine is located in Miyuki 1-Chome, Matsuyama City. It was originally built in 1899 as a private shrine to the spirits of war dead. In 1939, it was designated as an official Gokoku Jinja (a shrine honoring war dead) by the Minister of Home Affairs and relocated to its current location under a new name. It enshrines the spirits of those who died during wars between the periods of the Russo-Japanese War and the end of World War II. It also enshrines people who have contributed the prefecture’s industry and culture as well as public servants who died in the line of duty.
