Wakato Ferry若戸渡船

Pleasure Boat / Water Cruise

A public ferry that operates out of Kitakyushu City. The ferry takes around three minutes to make the trip from Kitatorihata-machi, Tobata Ward to Honmachi, Wakamatsu Ward across Dokai Bay and from the ship you can enjoy an amazing view of Wakato Ohashi Bridge from up close. You can also board chartered cruises (with reservation) to enjoy a more relaxed view of the scenery including their Evening Factory Appreciation Cruise.

NHKの「列島縦断こころ旅」で見て訪問した。戸畑から若松を往復する3分の船旅。たった3分だが楽しかった。戸畑側の日本水産のビル、若戸大橋、遠くに見える工場群の景色が楽しい。

大昔は路面電車が戸畑側の渡場そばまできており、その上屋がまだ残っています。
今は小倉方面から70系統か74系統のバスがその代替になっています。西鉄のサイトで時刻とバスの現在地が確認できます。

時代が移っても生活の脚であることには変わらず、観光の雰囲気はほとんどありません。過去の繁栄を偲びながら、洞海湾の風に吹かれてみてはどうでしょう。
