This museum educates visitors on the history, culture and folklore of Yamaguchi City. It preserves and exhibits valuable materials and documents. Apart from the regular displays, it also runs special exhibits related to Yamaguchi. The museum has an Ancient Manuscript Library, and during summer vacation they hold lessons for children.

山口駅から周辺を散策にて寄りました。人は少なく、ゆっくりと観ることができました。「信仰でたどる江戸時代」と言う企画展が開催されていました。関西方面へ旅行した道中記の内容が展示していて、有名な神社などを行き、近くで食事したなどが書いてあり、昔の旅行も今と変わらないと思いした○
博物館よりもミクロな視点で。こじんまりとした存在だが、勉強になることに間違いなし。

[高評価したい点]・入場料は大人100円(外税)。素晴らしい低価格。・私が訪れたときの特別展は[昔のくらし展示大・台所展]ということでキャパの小ささは仕方ないとしても展示品が充実。庶民の生活にフォーカスを当てており、当時使用していた農具・農家の生活にはかなり関心した。[低評価したい点]・なし
国道沿いにある目立たない資料館

国道沿いにあり看板も立っているのですが小さく目立たない資料館なので、注意しないと入口を通り過ぎてしまいます。続日本100名城のスタンプは入口にあり無料で押すことが出来ますが、入館料は100円なので入館しました。私が訪問した時の企画展は、「山口散策隊信仰でたどる江戸時代」でした。企画展の展示替え時は2週間程度休館になりますので、事前に確認が必要です。
