Takasaki Kannonyama
The Takasaki Kannon towers over this renowned cherry blossom viewing destination located a 25-minute drive from the Takasaki Interchange and Maebashi Interchange on the Kan-etsu Expressway. The grounds are planted with some 3,000 Yoshino cherries and the sight of the 41.8 meter tall, 6,000 ton Takasaki Kannon surrounded by cherry blossoms is truly stunning. During the blooming season, the statue is lit up from sundown until 22:00 from the Municipal Kannon Sancho Parking Area. In most years, the best time to see the blossoms is from early through mid-April, and during the Takasaki Spring Festival, the road is lined with stalls and the area bustles with visitors.
