Mitsutake Bairin Park
Located approximately 15 minutes or four kilometers away from the Kurume-Minami Interchange on the Kyushu Expressway via Prefectural Route 61, this is the most famous spot for plum blossoms in the Kitakyushu area, where about 350 red and white plum blossoms bloom throughout the site that is about one hectare. Starting from plum trees planted on land that was the tea garden of Goshoji Temple in commemoration of Emperor Showa, it was leased by Kitakyushu City and opened in 1979. In the flowering season from late February to mid-March, there are stalls selling handmade agricultural products. The Mitake Bairin Plum Festival is held every Sunday in late February, and it is crowded with many people.
