A spacious park located a 35-minute ride from JR Kagoshima-Chuo Station on the City View bus Waterfront Course and a three-minute walk from the “Gionnosu Koen-mae” stop. A renowned destination for cherry blossom viewing, in spring the sight of the trees in full bloom with Sakurajima floating in Kinko Bay in the background attracts many people. The lush grounds encompass a bronze statue of Marshal Togo Heihachiro, who was born in the bygone Satsuma Domain and served in the navy from the end of the Edo period to the early Meiji period. A grave holding a lock of Togo’s hair can also be found in the park. Visitors can also view the site of Tofukuji Castle, which was built by Haseba Nagazumi.

眺めが良い

「多賀山公園」をご存じでしょうか？鹿児島市にある眺めの良い公園です。公園内には東福寺城跡や無敵のバルチック艦隊を撃破した勝利に導いた東郷元帥の銅像があり桜の名所としても知られていますが、当日は遅く葉桜になっていました。錦江湾の奥に見える桜島は雄大で素晴らしいです。祇園之洲公園も近くにあります。

石橋記念公園周辺を観光した際、行ってみました。少し高い場所にあり、行くまでが大変でしたが、その分眺めはよかったです。
東郷平八郎元帥銅像

鹿児島市中心部からは少し離れていますが、東郷平八郎元帥銅像のために訪れました。錦江湾を見下ろす元帥の像を見ることができてよかったです。桜島もよく見えますが、桜の木が沢山あったので、桜の時期はより素敵だと思います。
