A roadside station located in Okawa, Akune City nine kilometers south of downtown Akune. Facing the majestic beauty of the East China Sea, the station is the first one situated along National Route 3. Facilities include an information counter with information on area roads and roadside stations as well as terminals and bulletin boards offering information on nearby medical institutions and weather conditions. Making use of the bounties of both sea and land found in the area, the station’s local specialty products market sells local seafood, vegetables, and specialty products made from the same. The seafood served by the station’s restaurant is quite popular and the establishment serves set meals made with ingredients like silver-stripe round herring, a spring delicacy in Akune.

肥薩おれんじ鉄道の薩摩大川駅から徒歩で立ち寄りました。小さな道の駅です。日本一おめでたい自販機があり、タイ、エビがイラストされたのが設置されてました◯
ヤシの木と東シナ海は南国気分です

天草諸島の南側の玄関口である鹿児島県の長島から本土に入り、そのまま国道３号線を南下しました。阿久根市の市街地を過ぎてまもなく薩摩川内市との堺が近づくあたりに、こちらの道の駅がありました。館内の物産館には、このあたりで捕れた海の幸が豊富でした。それと同じくらい野菜も多くて、海の幸と山の幸の両方に恵まれている土地なんですね。駐車場の前は、海に面していて、遮るものがありません。国道沿いにはヤシ...

天草下島からフェリーで長島へ渡り、黒之瀬戸大橋を渡って九州本土へ入りました。長島から渡った先は阿久根市で、そのまま国道３号線を南下すると阿久根の市街地がありました。そのまま海沿いを走る国道を進むと、国道と海岸の間の狭い場所に道の駅の建物と駐車場がありました。駐車場は東シナ海に面していて、遠くに甑島を望む絶好のビュースポットでした。
