Daihigan-ji Temple

Temple
A Shingon Buddhist temple located in Yokosawa, Akiruno City, Tokyo. The temple is said to have been built in 1191 by the Kamakura period military commander Hirayama Sueshige. The temple is also famous for its white bushclover; when the samurai lord Date Masamune visited the temple, he was enchanted by their blossoms, and the temple still possesses a letter from Date sent by express messenger a few days later asking the temple to send him some of the flowers.

    こちらは、1191年に源頼朝の命で平山季重が醍醐寺三宝院の僧を招いて開山としたとされているそうです。木造伝阿弥陀如来及脇侍(千手観世音菩薩・勢至菩薩)坐像は、重要文化財(国指定)ですが、それは拝見出来ず残念でした。印象的なのは、観音堂の欄間です。立派な彫刻が施され、天国と地獄が描かれています。これはとても見応えあります。時間があれば、もっと境内を散策してみたかったです。見所は満載のお寺だ...

    近隣に住むので萩の季節には何度も訪れています。仁王門や大杉に囲まれた閑静な境内が気に入っていて、今日も雨が降る前にと思って自転車で行ってきました。ところが、今回、庭の手入れなどが行き届いていないように思え、正直残念でした。白萩は枝が伸び放題で通路も狭くなってしまい、梅ももっと刈り込んでおくべきと思いました。雑草も目立ちました。弘法大師さんの仏花は枯れていました。何か理由があるとは思い...
