Rengein Tanjoji Temple Honin

Temple
This ancient Buddhist temple is known as the birthplace of Koen, the master of Honen, founder of the Jodo school of Buddhism. Its colorful five-story wooden pagoda and the Great South Gate are well known. The temple was burned during battle in 1582 but was restored by the priest Zeshin Kawahara in 1929. A two-storied pagoda was rebuilt in 2018.

    行事ごとや初詣などの時にはたくさんの参拝客の姿がありますが、私が行った時にはとても静かな場所でゆっくりと自然を感じながら参拝することができました。

    お正月に行きました!お正月は人がとても多くて、車を止めることも大変でしたが、夜行ったからかものすごく趣があり、素敵でした!

    小岱山の中にある大きくて立派な寺院です。寺の中は綺麗に整備されていて散策しやすかったです。展望できるところからは、大牟田・荒尾方面の景色を眺めることができます。五重塔や大きな鐘など、立派な建造物があるので見入りました。
