This museum in Tabaruzaka Park has exhibits related to the Satsuma Rebellion, Japan's last civil war, including historical documents, guns and bullets from the period, and more. Hakuaisha, the antecedent to the Japanese Red Cross Society also got its start here. There's also an exhibit which realistically recreates the feel of the battle through video and sound.

熊本に行った際にドライブで行ってきました。資料館は新しく工夫されていました。西南戦争の要因、歴史関係が分かりやすく説明されていました。大変勉強になりました。

熊本に出かける以上、ここは避けて通れない。西南戦争の激戦地・田原坂である。今ではみかん畑が展開をする。急斜面である。熊本城を攻撃するも抜けず、北に転進する薩摩郡、追う政府軍、兵どもが夢の跡。
